For the third candidate, Benjamin Bindewald, who apparently made his decision to run rather spontaneously — “last Wednesday while driving” — politics is not the most important factor. If elected as the new DRV President, Bindewald intends to focus on digitalizationindustry visibility, and supporting young talent. He aims to use social media and content production as strategic tools to modernize the association and bring the tourism industry closer to the public.Bindewald describes himself as a man of practice, someone who acts with purpose both personally and professionally. His ambition is clear:he wants to change the public perception of the travel industry.

“A ten-year-old child should want to become a travel professional instead of a firefighter,” he said.

Even Marija Linnhoff, Chairwoman of VUSR and also a presidential candidate, recognized the cleverness of his approach:

“Benjamin Bindewald’s candidacy is clever. Others could have thought of that too.”

After the 50-minute discussion round, one question remained open: Does Bindewald have realistic chances?Observers noted that his biggest asset might be his fresh perspective, which clearly sets him apart from the other two candidates — and that could work in his favor.
